  SolidWorks Library   (UNder construction)

The purpose of this page is to promote the use of multi-configuration SolidWorks part files.  The intent is to provide a good source of files or links that have at least two or more configurations.

All Files are provided AS IS.  All critical dimensions and features should ALWAYS be verified before use.  The page numbers for the links may be changed over time.  Click here for hints on using the Reid Supply Online catalog.

Library parts can save a tremendous amount of time.  Click here for the goals and guidelines for these parts.

One of the greatest advantages for having multiple parts within a file is that during the design phase, various size parts can be quickly selected to determine what the design impact is for a particular size.  Because the mates typically apply to every part in the file, this makes a very efficient way to determine the optimum part selection for the design.

Goals for posting part files:

1)  Part files should have a minimum of two configurations.  Older versions are also better.

2)  All library parts should have a Custom Property that describes the information necessary for a standard Bill of Material.  This can be easily modified in the Design Table.

3)  When selecting a specific part size from a part file the descriptions should be meaningful.   Descriptions such as "LL56" are not helpful for the average user.  However, a description such as .500 ID greatly helps in the selection is many situations.

4)  When ever appropriate, a design library entry should be included.  This is especially useful when there are critical engineering parameters.  An example of this could be a small table or a link that identifies the maximum radial load of a bearing etc.  This information can save a fair amount of time by helping the operator to not be looking up the catalog information.

By uploading any files, the user is agreeing and acknowledging that no copy rights are being violated and that the user is agreeing that the files may be distributed without charge.
